During the past 12 months Jangro distributor Bowak has completed the extension of its head office warehouse, added two new offices, upgraded to state of the art IT hardware and software, replaced inefficient vans and added new vehicles to the fleet.

Investments in infrastructure have been complimented by the release of a brand new, 154 page full-colour catalogue, the introduction of two new ranges (Enviro – low environmental impact; Au Lait – premium bathroom accessories) and the expansion of the premium Sovereign range.

This commitment to growth was rewarded in September, comfortably the biggest month in Bowak’s 37 year history. To accommodate the volume of trade and to help drive further growth, Bowak welcomed four new faces to the warehouse, customer service and account management departments in October.

Bowak invests in technology to stay ahead of the competition

In the past 12 months, Bowak has completed the overhaul of its IT infrastructure and systems. The first phase of the project saw the replacement of the servers and all desktop hardware, which was completed in February of this year. The second phase officially went live in April, which marked the end of a six month transformation to an integrated software solution designed specifically for the stockist, distributor and wholesale marketplace.

During the same period, Bowak has established partnerships with Nouveau solutions and OGL Computer to support Bowak’s infrastructure and systems respectively.

Employee’s 25 years’ service to Bowak celebrated

On the 6th April 2008 Eric Large celebrated his 25th Anniversary since joining Bowak. Eric became the fifth current member of staff to reach this significant milestone and was presented with a Mont Blanc watch in recognition of his contributions.

Eric joined the family business back in 1983 and quickly established himself as the face of Bowak within the marketplace. During his tenure, the industry has undergone substantial change but Eric has always helped both Bowak and its customers remain ahead of the game.

The wealth of experience of the more established members of staff like Eric, combined with the vigour of youth that has been added to the team since the turn of the millennium is currently spurring Bowak onto new heights. Bowak has achieved best ever results in each of the past three years and substantial investment during 2007 and 2008 will see them take further strides forward.

Bowak’s customers the main benefactors from extended facilities

During the first quarter of 2008, Bowak completed the extension of their head office facilities, incorporating two additional offices, a 25% increase in warehousing and the use of an additional bay door to ease simultaneous goods inwards and despatch.

Managing director of Bowak, Rod Lennard commented;

“Designed with growth in mind, the extension is central to Bowak’s future development plans. Increased stock holdings will enable Bowak to benefit from greater purchasing power, which will be passed onto customers in the form of more competitive pricing. While our competitors are really starting to feel the bite of ever increasing input costs, Bowak’s customers will prosper as bulk buying enables us to rein in inflation.”
